Converting a Travel Corral to a Portable Round Pen

Corrals 2 Go! travel corrals can be used in many ways — on the road and at home. One popular conversion is a portable round pen (or round corral) when you’re back home or at your barn.

A round pen made from Corrals2Go! travel corral panels

21 of the 7'4" panels will make a 50-ft diameter portable round corral

Our most common 2-horse system is the 13-panel set of 7’4″ length. This mounts easily to most horse trailers and is normally configured to make two separate corrals with one common panel. But this can easily be expanded to the size of a traditional 50-foot diameter round pen by adding an additional eight corral panel sections. This will give you just more than 150 running feet of fencing needed to form a portable round corral for training and exercising your horse.

If you’re interested in this set-up, please give us a call and we can put together the right package for you with the additional corral panels necessary with your existing set to make a proper round pen that is easy to move around your property — or take with you on the road.

People use round corrals for all sorts of horse training, but they can be used for much more than just running your horse in circles! We recommend a horse training and exercise routine that makes the most of your time and your horse’s energy.

The Corrals2Go! system is more than just a travel corral. Many of our customers use these portable corrals all year long around—not just when traveling with their horses.

Check out this informative article from Pat Parelli on the use and misuse of round corrals. He has a range of exercises called the Seven Games that is very helpful in teaching your horse to tune in to you — and not just run around you.

And if you’re using your Corrals2Go! corral system as a horse training in a round pen format (or other method)—be sure to let us know. We’d love to see your photos and get your story. You can comment here or meet up with us on Facebook! Share with other Corrals 2 Go! users to use your corrals when you’re not traveling.

I just wanted to get pricing on some panels. Ok I would want to be able to have enough portable panels to stall 4 horses and then when at home use the panels for a round pen.
So how many panels would I need and how much would that be?
and how much to ship to el paso,tx?
Thank you

Hi Angela,
The most efficient way to create enough individual corrals for 4 horses is to use 13 of the 10′ long panels. The configuration can be all in a line or in a square pattern. The cost for 13 of these is $1716. The Fold A Rack will carry all of these on the side of your trailer. The Fold A Rack is $160.
The freight cost to El Paso, TX will be approximately $175 if we can ship to a business with a forklift. (like a feed store) Add another $50 if you want them shipped to your residence.
These 13 panels will make a round pen that is about 42 feet in diameter. If you want a 50 foot round pen, you will need 3 additional panels.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Hauling 3 horses to high school rodeos how many panels and which size would you recommend? They currently have beeen in the electric fencing

I would recommend that you use the 7′-4″ panels. A set of 15 of them will make up 3 corrals that are each approximately the same size as a stall that is 11 x11. It is similar to a honeycomb configuration. I’ll send you an email, too.
